A unique phenomenon, Chamarel is renowned for its naturally occurring seven-colored earth creation. Due to its geological creation, Chamarel is now a popular tourist destination in Mauritius and a major draw here. Here, red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple, and yellow are the seven colors that are visible. Certain regions of Mauritius have letter colors because the island’s tropical heat has washed off all soluble components, such as silicon dioxide. Sand particles are said to ultimately settle into layers to form a spectrum if all of the colors are mixed together.

Many of the rock formations have been worn away by rain and the erratic weather, but the sand is still present to captivate travelers. There is a kid-friendly play area on the property.
